Before you arrive

A little preparation makes the whole visit smoother, particularly if it is your first time.

  • Message ahead on LINE or WhatsApp to check availability — most venues reply quickly and it saves a wasted journey.
  • Confirm the price and session length before you book, so there are no surprises at reception.
  • Carry cash. Many venues accept cards, but cash is universally accepted and simpler.
  • Arrive showered where you can. A shower is provided regardless, but it is considered good manners.
  • Avoid arriving heavily intoxicated. Venues will decline service, and reasonably so.

On arrival

You will be shown the room options and prices at reception. Take a moment here — this is the right time to ask questions, not once the session has started.

Shoes come off at the entrance, as in any Thai home or spa. Valuables are usually stored in a locker or safe at reception.

The do’s

  • Be polite and unhurried. A friendly greeting sets the tone for everything that follows.
  • Say clearly if the pressure, temperature or music is not right — it will be adjusted.
  • Respect the agreed session length and the services listed.
  • Tip if you are happy. It is not compulsory, but it is customary and appreciated.
  • Treat the therapist as a professional, because that is what they are.

The don’ts

  • Do not photograph or film inside a venue. This is the firmest rule anywhere and it is taken seriously.
  • Do not negotiate the posted price. Rates are set and haggling causes offence.
  • Do not push for services beyond what the venue offers.
  • Do not arrive drunk or under the influence.
  • Do not ask for a therapist’s personal contact details.

A note on discretion

Venues in this category value privacy — theirs, their staff’s and yours. Keeping conversation and photography outside the premises is the single easiest way to be a welcome guest.

Common questions

Should I tip, and how much?+
Tipping is customary but not compulsory. A few hundred baht is normal if you are happy with the service.
Can I take photos inside the venue?+
No. Photography and filming inside venues is not permitted anywhere. All video on Thailand Massage Hub is filmed with the venue’s consent.
Do I need to book, or can I walk in?+
Both work. Walk-ins are common, but messaging ahead on LINE or WhatsApp is worth it in the evenings when the better rooms fill up.
What if I do not speak Thai?+
English is widely spoken at venues that cater to visitors, and most communicate easily over LINE or WhatsApp where translation is simple.
